"I'm going to suck at this. Why did I let you talk me into it?" Jensen was going to kill all his friends. He'd always applied for jobs he knew he could do, and after a week of training he was pretty sure he couldn't do this.

"Because the only other way we could figure out for you to finish school was you taking more of those twinky pictures?" Mike grinned as he set up his box of index cards on the table.

"I hate you." So maybe he'd been really broke, and it seemed like easy money. After all, the first ones were normal. But then they saw the other ones, and Chris said he wasn't letting Jensen pay him back with porn money. It was really overreacting, but since the whole point was to pay Chris back the eight hundred dollars he owed, Jensen was happy to have an excuse to give up modeling.

"Pete thought they were hot."

"That was shocking." Jensen maybe hit Mike in the side with his box of keys. It was an accident, really.

"Dude, come on. Why do you think you'll suck at this? You've watched me be an RA for three years. It's not that hard."

"You could talk to a brick wall-you did that time you got high in California."

"And you'll do that silent listener thing you're so good at. I mean, you can get Chris to talk about shit. We're not all supposed to be the same. That's the point."

"Seriously." Eliza grinned and wrapped her arms around him from behind. Sometimes he thought she pressed herself up against him all the time just to piss off the straight guys. "They pay us minimum wage, babe. It's not rocket science. At least you didn't find two people you slept with last year on the resident roster."

"Aren't you really amazed it was only two?" Jensen grinned and ducked when she swatted at his head.

"You're one to talk."

She did kind of have a point. He was lucky most of his hookups were too old to be living in a dorm.

"How did I end up with this group? I'm just hoping you guys can manage not to all fuck each other." Sam poked her head in the lounge and gestured for Eliza to join her at the door. "Everybody ready to start letting them in?"

~*~

There was a reason they gave Jensen the job that required the least actual talking. He'd already listened to Mike give his speech about getting drunk and falling out a window ten times. At least Mike alternated it with a story about getting a head wound from a vodka bottle and dislocating a shoulder hood-surfing; although, Jensen wasn't sure Mike should be giving all the new freshman ideas. It took his friends midway through their sophomore year to make all those stories.

"Hey, check out the hot freshman." Mike pointed to where Kristen was running through the rules with two intimidated freshman.

"You mean hot jailbait? He doesn't even look eighteen."

"I meant the blonde. But I guess he's not bad. I don't know. Do you have a thing for tall guys?"

"Whatever. I only thought you meant him because the blonde looks about twelve."

"Sure." Mike smirked and pulled out his phone.

"What're you doing?"

"I can't judge guys. I'm consulting Pete." Mike held up the phone and snapped a picture before Jensen could stop him.

"He's going to see you." If he did, Jensen was going to tell Hot Jailbait that Mike was not his friend.

"He didn't." Mike grinned and typed on his phone, snapping it closed before the pair dragged boxes and suitcases over to their table.

"Think he'd hate me all year if I tried to rub his head for luck?" the blonde whispered just a little too loud.

"I'm the third floor RA if you'd like to try that out in my room later," Mike answered, making her cheeks and ears blush red. It was just wrong. She was probably some prodigy who was really only sixteen.

"Mike, stop perving on the freshman." Mike deserved to get hit for that, but Jensen didn't expect to earn a smile from Tall, Dark, and Really Fucking Adorable Jailbait for his trouble. If Pete didn't agree, Jensen was going to have to explain about the dimples.

"You know I was going to let you have the other one, but if you're going to be like that," Mike answered and Jensen renewed his interest in the box of keys before they could notice him turning red. He was disowning Mike after this.

Jensen managed to find his composure before Mike finished whatever crazy emergency room story he was telling.

"Hey guys. I'm Jensen, the sixth floor RA. I just need you to hand over your IDs and I can get your keys." He sounded like a fucking robot. It was a good thing this guy was probably straight.

They handed over their IDs and he glanced over the list. They were both on his floor. His parents were wrong about God hating him. God had to love him if he was giving him this to look at every day. So what if all he could do was look? He didn't fall for eye candy that easy anyway.

"Hey, well, looks like you guys are both on my floor." He didn't even try to keep the smile off his face when he said it. He was supposed to be friendly, right? "I'll be down here for the next couple hours, but I'll be in my room after that if you need anything. Mandatory hall meeting down here Sunday at six. Mandatory floor meeting right after that."

Hot Jailbait-Jared-pocketed his key and went back to picking up Allie's bags, like he was her boyfriend already, and Jensen just had to know if he should give up now. He turned to Allie, who was still watching him. Girls he could handle. Too bad that didn't do him much good.

"You guys already know each other?"

"No, we just met in line." Allie smiled at him and he made a mental note to get Lexi to clue her new roommate in as soon as possible.

Jensen grabbing Jared's wrist had nothing to do with how hot he looked picking up all the suitcases. He was just being a good RA, and that was what he'd go with when Mike repeated the story.

"Okay, man. As your RA, I feel I need to help you out here. College girls? They're not all nice. You gotta be more careful, or you're going to be carrying everything that every girl moves into this place while they hook up with the assholes."

"Hey!" Allie's adoring look turned into a glare before she pouted at Jared. "I was wonderful entertainment through this line you guys put us through! Jared. You trust me, right? You've known me way, way longer than this guy."

"I don't know. I mean, he's older and wiser." Jared started to put down her suitcase.

"Come on. We're friends, right? Okay, so I didn't promise to sleep with you. But hey, I'm hot, so either way, I'm bound to have all kinds of hot friends I can introduce you to."

"Well, okay. I guess if that's the deal, I can work with that." Jared grinned back at him, and Jensen smiled back even as his hope dropped away. Of course he was straight. He didn't even look back at Jensen as he walked away.

"Man, stop looking like someone killed your puppy. Just because she assumed he was straight doesn't mean he is."

Jensen glared at Mike. "Yeah. Well, maybe she's a lesbian."

"Jensen has a crush," Mike sang as soon as he walked into the townhouse Sunday night. It was really too much to hope Mike would keep his damn mouth shut, wasn't it?

"Really? How come this is the first I've heard about it, darlin?" Chris smirked around his beer.

"Because I don't have a crush. Mike has a crush on a freshman who turned eighteen two weeks ago, and he's trying to draw attention to me."

"Eighteen is eighteen, and I have no problem talking about Allie. But that doesn't change the fact that you have a thing for Jared." Mike grinned. It wasn't fair that he had no shame.

"Jared, huh?" Chris smirked and handed Mike a beer. "So tell me about this kid."

"One, he's only ten days older than Allie, so Jensen can't talk. He likes the jailbait," Mike answered. "Two, Jensen was so distracted drooling over him that he moved the kid into the wrong room."

Chris erupted into laugher, and even Steve, the fucking traitor, chuckled.

"There were two Jareds on my floor. It could have happened either way."

"With you? Yeah, right. So when are you bringing him over?" Chris asked, like it was that simple.

"Never? He's straight, and I'm not allowed to drink around him, so I'm never going to see him outside of the dorm." He really should head back there soon anyway. Sam wanted the RAs to hang out at the dorm as much as possible the first week, and he didn't want to piss her off already.

"You're sure he's straight?" Steve asked and Jensen could see the worry in his eyes.

"He's looking to hook up with girls."

"Gonna test run him with Alexis?" Chris asked.

"Maybe. If he doesn't like her, I'll think about it."

"So you do have a thing for him?" Steve asked.

"He's nice to look at. That's it. I'm sure he'll end up straight anyway." Besides, it probably wasn't a good idea to hook up with one of his residents.

"And if he's not?' Chris asked, less teasing this time and more worry, like he was a fucking idiot who they had to take care of.

"Then he's still my resident, and I don't need the drama, okay?" he snapped and they all froze until Steve got up and clapped a hand on his shoulder.

"Help me finish dinner?" Steve asked, and Jensen nodded, following him into the kitchen.

Jensen knew he was never much help in the kitchen with Steve. Mostly he just stood there and held or stirred whatever Steve told him to.

"I'm not going to break. If I haven't broken yet, I'm not going to break over some kid. He can't keep acting like I'm going to fucking fall apart."

"He cares about you. He's your friend. He's allowed to worry. You're just as bad with him, and you know it. Hell, you were worse with Stephanie."

"I wasn't as annoying."

"No. You were more annoying. You're still more annoying. We can't even date anyone you don't like without them disappearing as soon as they meet you."

"It's not my fault Chris has bad taste." It was true. Chris had whole strings of bitchy girlfriends.

"And you don't?"

"Justin's not evil. He's just...kind of fucked up. Besides, that's one bad example. None of my other guys have been an issue."

"And you still keep half the guys you fuck secret from him, but you tell Alexis."

"You hate Lexi now too?" Jensen sighed as he watched Steve arrange chicken and pasta onto plates. It was like they all thought he was committing some kind of crime by making a new friend outside of the group.

"I don't hate her. I'm just saying that if it was reversed you'd be twice as bad. You get pissed as all fuck when he doesn't tell you things, but you make him pry shit out of you. So give him a break." Steve was right. He hated that Steve was right.

"If I say I'll try harder not to get pissed off at him, will you back off?"

Steve chuckled, nodding as he handed Jensen plates to carry.

~*~

"So, Pete called me," Lexi said and he could hear the smirk in her voice.

"Why did I ever let you meet Pete?"

"I don't know. It probably wasn't the smartest idea you ever had," Lexi answered. "So who's this guy?"

"He's just this freshman that moved in. He's one of my residents. Probably straight."

"And you like him?"

"He's hot. That's it. I've had one conversation with him."

"When you had to help move him into the right room?" Lexi giggled.

"Yes. And I made a fool of myself then by making some stupid comment about being in his bed." At least he knew Lexi wouldn't share the information with anyone except Pete.

"You lost composure?"

"You'll understand when you see his smile."

"Aww. It's like that, huh?"

"Yeah." There wasn't much point in denying it. Lexi would know as soon as she saw him. "But I think he's straight. You should go for him."

"So we can find out if he's straight?"

"Yeah."

"You're not going to be upset if I hook up with him?"

"Nah. He's hot, but I'm not in love with him. If he's straight, you might as well have him."

"So then I can tell you about it?"

"And then you'll owe me. I need to get laid. If I find you one, you have to find me one."

"Because what? You've gone, like, a week and a half without getting laid? How are you even functioning?"

"Shut up. You're at what? Two weeks?"

"Um. Three hours?" Lexi giggled, and he had to laugh with her.

"What? Who?"

"Derek. From my summer job."

"Good?"

"About a six. His cock had this weird bend in it. So I'll take you up on Jared. He's got to be better. I can take him to Matt's freshmeat party."

"Call me when you get here tomorrow?"

"Of course. You think I'm carrying my own shit upstairs?"

~*~

"So, what'd he say about me when you guys were moving in my stuff?" Alexis asked as soon as they were in the elevator and out of earshot.

"He hinted around to see if you had a boyfriend. I let him know you didn't, and I'm pretty sure he thinks you're hot, which answers my question." Not that he was disappointed.

"You sure it's okay if we hook up? I'm not going there if you like him. I can pick up someone else."

"No, it's no big deal. I can live through you and it's not like I had a shot anyway. But you damn well better find me a guy tomorrow night. You officially owe me."

"Chris is having people over tomorrow, right? I'll find someone at the party tonight and invite him to Chris's party."

~*~

"You better not let it get out that you don't lock your door at night. I don't think Amanda gives a shit that you're gay," Alexis said when she came in the next morning.

"I'm sleeping."

"It's two." Lexi slipped off her shoes before climbing in the bed next to him. "You slept at the townhouse last night?"

"Yeah. Steve brought over some good shit."

"You're going to kill all your brain cells before you get into medical school." Lexi rolled her eyes but snuggled close to him anyway.

"Don't worry. I'll have enough left to treat all your STDs."

"And your own?"

"I'm clean. I'm careful." Mostly he stuck to hand jobs. Hand jobs were safe.

"So am I."

"Uh huh. So how was Jared? You slept with him?" he asked, and she shook her head.

"Couldn't after I figured out he was a virgin. You know fucking virgins ends in drama." Yeah. That was true. So it didn't matter if Jared was straight anyway. He wasn't going to get messed up with a virgin.

"So nothing?"

"No. I went with oral. Figured he'd probably been there and done that."

"Any good?"

"Well, he didn't try to shove his dick down my throat, and he didn't take an hour to come, so that was good."

"Always a plus."

"I kind of thought he might not be so great when he was returning the favor, but he really paid attention, you know? I told him something was good, and he kept at it. The boy could really move his tongue, and he didn't just try to shove it inside me like some guys do. He knew to use his fingers for that and his tongue on my clit, which so many guys fuck up."

"Gross. That's just wrong." He would really never get how guys could put their mouths down there. Chris thought it was the hottest thing in the world, but at least he didn't give details.

"And it's not gross when you stick your tongue up a guy's ass?"

"I make sure it's clean first!" It wasn't like he made a habit of doing it for random guys, either.

"And I'm not clean?"

"No, you get all wet when you're turned on, and it has to get all over his face."

"And this is different than getting come all over your face how?"

That sucks, baby. I'm sorry.

And EW.

"So he's straight?" Steve asked as he handed Jensen a beer.

"Went down on Lexi. So I'd say yes."

"No chance he swings both ways?"

"He went down on her, and he was good at it. That says enough for me. Besides, she thinks he's a virgin, so it's not like I want to mess with that." Except that maybe he thought about it when he was jacking off in the shower.

"Were you always this cynical?" Steve sighed, but then he'd always been the one who wrote nothing but love songs. Now if they could only get him to fall for someone who wasn't married or engaged or off limits for some other reason.

"Don't knock it. I'm crossing over to Jensen's side. Meaningless sex is the way to go," Tom interrupted as he reached between them to grab a beer. Lexi rolled her eyes from her place under his arm and reached out to steady his arm before he spilled it all over the place.

"Speaking of meaningless sex, someone promised me a guy for meaningless sex tonight."

"And I'll deliver." Lexi grinned as she took a drink of Tom's beer. It was probably safer in her hand anyway. Tom never dealt with breakups well. "His name's Drew and he's hot. He'll be looking for you when he gets here, so you should stop hiding in the kitchen."

"Good to know." At least he'd be getting some kind of action tonight. He leaned down to peck Lexi on the lips before walking out of the kitchen.

"See. This is why it's unfair that he's gay. He can just kiss any girls he wants and they let him," he heard Tom bitch as he left.

"Like you can't make out with me if you want," Lexi's voice trailed after him.

He didn't know half the people at the party, but that was nothing new. Chris was single, which meant he'd invited every hot girl he'd met. Jensen searched the room until he found Chris with his arm around a pretty blond. He raised his cup and smiled. There was no point in worrying about her until he found out if she was more than a random hook-up. His eyes landed on a hot guy with brown hair by the door looking a little lost. He was thin and Jensen probably had an inch or two on him. He was the complete opposite of Justin, which meant he might be Lexi's guy. She always said it was unhealthy to hook up with anyone who looked like Justin.

"Hey. Looking for someone?" Jensen grinned as he said it.

"Um, Alexis invited me? I'm Drew." Drew bit his lip as he looked up with Jensen. This was going to be easy, but then, he should have known. Lexi had a good eye.

"Lexi's a little preoccupied. I'm Jensen. How about I get you a beer?"

~*~

Drew left before he even stumbled into Chris's room. The blowjob in the bathroom was great, but he didn't need the morning after. He woke up when the door to Chris's room creaked open. Chris had crashed long before him, tangled up with the blond Jensen had seen him with earlier.

"Hey," Lexi whispered, shucking off her jeans and climbing in next to him.

"Your hair's getting my pillow wet," he complained, but she knew he didn't mean it as she snuggled into his arms. He didn't really feel like sleeping alone either.

"You're the one who bitches if I don't shower before I come to bed."

"You just had sex with my friend. It would be weird." Not that he could explain why this wasn't weird.

"Whatever. You know you think Tom's hot."

"Shut up. Chris is going to hear you."

"Chris is passed out." Lexi rolled her eyes and sighed against him. "Drew was good?"

"Like a hoover."

"Looked like he would be."

~*~

"Lexi, come on. They've only been broken up for a day. I knew he'd go for you when it happened, but I didn't think you'd sleep with him so soon. Now they really can't get back together," Jensen said as they rode the elevator up the sixth floor. He was really going to stay home and be a good RA today. Classes started tomorrow and he needed to be around if any of his residents didn't know where to go. Okay, so maybe it was already past noon when he drove back to the dorm with Lexi. The freshmen should learn to sleep late in college anyway.

"Oh come on. Did you really think she and Tom were going to get married and make babies? I mean she hated Mike. She refused to go to any party Mike would be at. Tom has a futon in his room for Mike to sleep on. It was not going to work." Alexis giggled as the elevator opened on their floor. She did kind of have a point.

"Chris has a futon in his room with my name on it. Are you saying he has to approve any guy I date?"

"Totally. The guy barely lets you hang out with me. He's mad you even have other friends."

"You're insane."

"Remember Nick? Chris harassed him until he just gave up. Then he said you didn't need him if he was that weak-though it probably would have been better if Mike and Tom hadn't helped so much." Lexi did kind of have a point, but he didn't really like Nick all that much anyway. He was relieved he could just let them get rid of him.

"Really? Aww, so you slept with Tom last night to strengthen your place in my life. I'm touched."

"I don't need to. I'm not weak. I can take Chris. No, I slept with Tom because he's always really good in bed when he's rebounding. Most guys are. I think they think they have something to prove."

"You actually like to be the rebound girl. You realize this strengthens my insane theory, right?"

"Shut up. I'm catching a shower. Then I should look up my schedule because I have no idea where I'm supposed to be tomorrow." Lexi grinned and waved as she opened her door and disappeared inside.

He was still fiddling with his key when the door across from him opened and Jared came out. Jared didn't look at him, just rushed down the hall to his own room and closed the door. Shit. This was why Steve always said he and Lexi needed to have some damn sense.

Amanda's door opened again, and he ducked inside his room before they could see him. So he was a coward, but he'd been at this job a week and he was already fucking up.

He could hear the girls knocking on Jared's door, but he couldn't quite make out their words. He was just about to call Mike and ask if he should do something when there was a knock on his door.

"Jensen?" Allie's voice was clear through the door and shit, he was going to have to answer. They had to know he was home. Hopefully, they wouldn't hate him just yet.

"Yeah?" he asked as he pulled open the door to find all three of Jared's friends. At least they didn't look like they wanted to kill him.

"Hey." Allie looked kind of scared of him. Why the fuck would she look scared? "We kind of have a problem, and well, you're the RA, and you're supposed to help with stuff."

Amanda rolled her eyes and pushed herself next to Allie, "Your friend hooked up with Jared and he actually liked her and then you guys had to be all loud about how she clearly didn't mean anything by it and now he's locked himself in his room."

"Amanda!" Sandy glared at her even though she was telling the truth as far as he could tell.

"What? It's the truth."

"I'm sure there's more to the story than we know, okay?" Sandy said and then turned to him. "But yeah, that's kind of what happened and we're worried. He really liked her and now he won't even answer us or let us in."

"There's really not much I can do." He could try, but he wasn't sure Jared would want to talk to him.

"You can't like, open his door?" Allie asked.

"Not unless I think he's in some kind of danger and then I have to go through my boss."

"How do you know he's not? What if he's really upset and he jumps out the window?" Amanda asked. She couldn't be serious.

"You think he'll hurt himself?" Jared hadn't really seemed suicidal, but then, Jensen hadn't foreseen this, so what did he know?

"We don't know," Allie said, and he could see her eyes glittering with tears. "We haven't really known him that long. I've just been telling him everything would be fine and now it's not."

Shit. He had to do something. He couldn't just stand here until she started crying. He was officially the worst RA on the planet.

"Look, I can try to talk to him, and then if I think he's in danger, I'll call Mike or Sam, okay?" He was really going to have to call Mike first. Sure, Mike would never let him live it down, but that was better than Sam knowing how much he was fucking this up. At least Mike would keep his mouth shut if he managed to fix their mess.

Allie nodded, and the girls stepped aside to let him out of the room. They stayed back, but he could feel their eyes on him as he knocked on Jared's door.

"Jared? I need you to open the door for me," he said when Jared didn't answer. Still nothing. Maybe Jared thought he could just come in like the girls did. "Jared. I know you're in there. You know, if you don't let me in, I can go get a key to your room from the office and let myself in."

"I read the handbook. You can't open my room just because you feel like it. It's like invasion of privacy or something." So Jared did know the rules.

"Yeah, well, Allie says she's afraid you might hurt yourself. I can either go report that to my boss, and we can go through all the procedures to open your door and then file a lot of reports later. Or you can just let me in. It's your call, man. Either way, I'm coming in." He wasn't really sure he could get Sam behind him on this one, but he must have sounded convincing because the door opened.

"I'm not going to hurt myself. I might hurt Allie, but not myself. And I'm joking about that, just in case you weren't sure." Jared didn't invite him in, but he didn't object when Jensen stepped in and closed the door behind him. He just walked away and threw himself down on his bed. Yeah, he and Lexi really fucked this one up.

"What exactly did Allie tell you, anyway?" Jared asked as Jensen pulled out his desk chair to sit by the bed. He could do this. They had training for this kind of shit.

"That you were upset. That you locked yourself in your room, and she was afraid you might hurt yourself." Okay, so that wasn't exactly what they said, but it was mostly what Allie said.

"Oh, well. See, it's really no big deal."

"Jared, I saw you run in here when we came home. I'm not slow." Shit. Maybe he shouldn't have come out and said it, but the guy just looked so fucking ruined.

"Yeah, well, so you know what happened, then. I promise not to kill myself. I'm fine."

"You're fine? You locked yourself in your room, and you freaked out your friends." Really, he was trying to understand, but he was pretty sure Lexi didn't declare love no matter how good the sex was. She was smarter than that.

"Man, I just can't talk to you about this. She's like your best friend." Jared said, and he couldn't pretend to be shocked. Even if Jared didn't know his part in this, he couldn't pretend he didn't know in advance how it was going to go.

"Fair enough. You don't want to talk to me, I can get someone else. But man, you really freaked out the girls. And they freaked out me. If you can't work around that I'm friends with her, I can get an RA that doesn't know her, but you're talking about this." Before, he'd thought the girls were overreacting, but now that Jared wouldn't even look at him? Maybe he could get Kristen. She didn't know Lexi well, and she'd probably be good at this. She'd been really good to talk to when he needed someone during training.

"No. I just... it's stupid. It's not like she ever said it meant anything. We didn't even have sex. I just don't get it. I thought it was good. She said it was good." Jared's cheeks tinted pink as Jensen stared at him, and he finally got it. Lexi was wrong about Jared knowing what he was doing. She was actually fucking wrong.

"Jared. Shit. You'd never went down on a girl before her, did you? And I'm guessing that was your first blow job?"

"Okay. Now I really might have to kill myself." Jared groaned and turned his head into his pillow. He probably shouldn't have blurted it out like that, but usually Lexi could call an amateur. He was going to laugh so hard when he told her she was wrong-well, after he bitched at her for causing this mess.

"Well, you must be a quick study. 'Cause she didn't figure that out, I can tell you that." She was going to kill him, but he just wanted Jared to stop looking so broken. Maybe if he knew he was good, that would make a difference.

"Seriously? She told you that?"

"Yes. She's probably going to bring out that picture in revenge for me telling you this. But yeah, she was impressed. She thought you knew what you were doing down there."

He really hoped Jared didn't want details. He liked to repress those kinds of things, but at least Jared relaxed enough that Jensen could pull away the pillow he was hiding in. The corners of Jared's mouth were finally turning up in a ghost of that smile he loved. Shit, Jared was straight. He was so fucked if making Jared smile was making him feel this good.

"Look, Jared, you can't take this personally." This was probably not going to help with the smile, but Jared had to know that he couldn't keep going after her.

"What? Tom broke up with his girlfriend, so I'm not supposed to take it personally that Alexis got back with him without even thinking about me?"

"No, you're not. Because she's not back with Tom, for one thing." He should probably leave out that Alexis slept in his bed last night.

"She's not?"

"She was never with Tom. She's never really with anyone. She hooks up with Tom for fun, and she keeps doing it because she knows it's never going to get messy. He's never going to try to be her boyfriend. If she thought you'd get this upset, she wouldn't have hooked up with you, either."

"Oh, thanks. That helps." Jared rolled his eyes and turned on his back. Okay, so he probably should have thought of a better way to say that.

"Sorry, man. But you just met her. How do you even know you want to date her?" Really, he loved Lexi, but he wouldn't recommend anyone actually trying to have a relationship with her.

"Maybe I wanted to find out if I did," Jared insisted, and his lips turned down in a frown. It took all Jensen's willpower not to reach over and brush the hair out of his eyes.

"Yeah, I know. And I get that. But Lexi? She doesn't do relationships because she knows it won't work for her right now. She's a good friend, yeah, but she's a horrible girlfriend. She's so into what she wants for herself right now that she's not willing to budge at all in that. Relationships can't work when neither person will compromise, and she's not ready to do that. She knows that, so she just hooks up when she feels like it and avoids actually dating."

"That's insane."

"Yeah, I tell her that every day. She says she's okay with that."

"That's great."

"I'm sorry. And man, I'm sure that when she figures out how much she fucked up with you, she'll be sorry, too. She wouldn't hurt you like this on purpose."

"You'd say that. She's your friend."

"Okay, maybe. If you want to hate her, that's totally cool with me. I'm not exactly thrilled she wasn't clearer in her intentions. But you shouldn't beat yourself up over it. She's the one with issues here. You didn't do anything wrong, and you gotta know that." In all fairness, he was probably fucked up, too, but still, she really was usually better at reading guys. This kind of shit didn't happen a lot.

"If I say I know that, can we never talk about this ever again?"

"I don't know. Do you really mean that, or do you just want me to go away?" The bad part was that he didn't even want to go away. He wanted to climb in Jared's bed and make him forget all about Alexis. Which was why he should really get out of the room.

"Yeah. I mean it. Thanks, man. I guess you aren't the worst RA ever." Jared was smiling, and fuck if that didn't make it impossible to function.

"Oh, thanks. That's great to know. I'd hate to be worse than Mike."

"I'll give you extra points if you can get the girls to back off for the rest of the night. Tell them I'm not killing myself or whatever. I just need to chill a little."

"Sure, but I'm holding you to that. I'm going to have a hard time arguing I'm a better RA than Mike if I lose a resident before classes even start." At least he didn't have to get Mike's help for this.

Jared nodded as he left the room and glanced down the hall. He couldn't be too surprised to find the girls sitting in the hall by his room. At least they weren't right outside Jared's door, listening. They got up as he walked toward them.

"He's okay. He just wants some time alone."

"You're sure?" Allie asked, and fuck if she didn't still look like she was about to cry.

"Yeah. He's not amazing or anything, but he'll be fine. He's not contemplating jumping out the window at all. Give him some space, and I'm sure he'll see you tomorrow."

"Is he mad at me?"

"What? I don't think so. He didn't say anything about being mad at you at all. He's just upset about what happened and maybe kind of embarrassed. He's not mad at you." He wasn't sure exactly how Jared could be mad at her for this. Except that if this was partially his fault for pushing Alexis at Jared, maybe she'd done the same thing.

"Thanks." Allie looked down as she said it, and he couldn't help reaching out to rub her shoulder. What he didn't expect was to have her wrap her arms around his waist. He let his arms fall around her shoulders, and he stroked her hair just a little when she sniffled. With her blonde hair and thin frame, it's wasn't all that different from the last time he'd held Mack in his arms before he left.

~*~

Lexi actually looked worried when she pushed open his door.

"You're mad, aren't you? I made a mess for you on your third day."

"You didn't make it by yourself." Jensen sighed. He shouldn't have encouraged her. This was why Steve was always saying they had to quit playing games.

"But I was there. I should've figured out he'd take it seriously. I should have come right out and said it wasn't before it happened."

"Yeah, well, it's not your fault he was so good you didn't think it was his first time."

"Oh, my gosh. You told him what I said, didn't you?" Lexi moved to his bed and swatted his arm.

"Not word for word, but come on. He thought it was because he was bad. I couldn't leave him thinking that."

"Okay, fair enough. So how much does everyone hate me?"

"You haven't talked to Allie?"

"I may have hid in the showers."

"You? You hid?" Sure, they were all pissed at her, but he'd seen her stand down Chris more than once.

"I can't just go back there! They think I'm this heartless whore. This is why I'm not friends with girls. I suck at being friends with girls. And nice guys, apparently."

"Thanks a lot." He had to say it, but he couldn't put any bite into it. Hell, if they knew his part in this, they'd all hate him, too.

"You know what I mean." Lexi ran her hands through her hair, and he reached out, pulling her into bed with him.

"I know. I'm sorry." Jensen sighed and leaned down to kiss the top of her head. "You want me to tell them it's my fault, too?" He really did owe her that much, even if it made them all hate him and meant he'd have to admit his thing for Jared.

"No. It doesn't do any good if they hate us both. Just try to convince them I'm not evil from the inside?"

"Of course. But babe, I think if you go talk to them, at least the girls would figure it out."

"Or I could just move into your room?"

"Lex, you're the one who said you wanted a random roommate so you could make new friends." Of course, she wouldn't need new friends if she hadn't had to pick between him and Justin. Plus, if he hadn't made her keep his secret, his friends would probably like her just like they did when they thought she was just some girl Tom was fucking.

"And now I know why I didn't make friends with girls last year. I can't do it. You're just going to have to put up with me."

"I'm pretty sure you're the one that puts up with me." Really, as causing drama went, she'd have to cause a lot more to catch up. "But I think you've gotta go back. We said this year was going to be better, right?"

"It can be better for you, and I'll tag along," Lexi rolled her eyes, and he knew she didn't blame him for last year, but he couldn't help thinking her freshman year would have been fine if he hadn't fucked it all up with his drama. She could have more friends if she hadn't been keeping his secret. If his breakup with Justin hadn't gotten so messy, she could at least be friends with both of them.

"Stop it. I can see you brooding. Last year was not your fault, and I don't wish I wasn't your friend. I told you. We're in this together, and this year is going to be better."

"So you want me to go back with you?" Sure, they might be mad that he was pretty much going to stand behind her, but if they never saw what a good person she was, they could all fuck off. Even Chris had to admit that she'd had his back as much as anyone else.

"No, I can do it. I'll go and explain I didn't know he'd be so upset, and I'll apologize," Lexi sighed and slid off of the bed.

"Good."

"But if they still hate me, I'm packing up my stuff and moving in here."

I heard what happened. Stop blaming yourself. You both fucked up, but from what I heard, you made it a little better. He'll recover.

I don't want to talk about it.

"So Alexis is back to fucking Tom again, and you're fucking pretty much anything that walks and has a cock?" Chris said as he walked into the party. He wasn't in the mood for Chris's shit. Jared was still avoiding Lexi, which meant Jared didn't see him much. Not that he needed to see Jared anyway. Jared was straight, and Jensen was just lucky Jared wasn't creeped out that he was gay.

"They don't have to walk, really, as long as they're still hot."

"Well, I hate to break it to you, but I'm not sure anyone invited gay people to this party. But hey, if they're closeted, I'm sure they'll find you."

Jensen nodded and grabbed a beer, ignoring the worried look Chris cast his way when he didn't answer.

"I think I've already fucked all the interesting guys here. Chris needs to invite new people." Lexi appeared next to him, and, hell, that was true if she was giving up after only half an hour.

"See any for me?" Lexi's gaydar was almost as good as Pete's. Then again, she just pointed him toward anyone that didn't look down her shirt when she leaned over.

"No. I didn't even get a bi-curious vibe from anyone."

"Dammit." The bi-curious guys were always good for a pointless hook-up. They'd moan over finally getting blown by someone who could fit their whole cock in his mouth, jack him off out of obligation, and then freak out and be relieved when he didn't want them again.

"Yeah. We should just get wasted."

"At least you can fuck Tom at the end of the night. He's already striking out."

~*~

Jensen listened to the phone ring in his ear. Every time Justin didn't answer, he assumed it was because he was doing something with Jacqui. It was stupid, and he knew it. Justin swore they didn't really fuck that much because they'd been together forever and Jacqui was a girl, but they still hung out. They still slept in the same bed. They still sat in front of the TV and watched movies together. And even if it wasn't often, there was no way Justin didn't hook up with her at all.

"Jensen?" Justin's voice wasn't a whisper and he actually said Jensen's name. That was a good sign.

"Hey."

"You okay?"

"This fucking sucks."

"You're drunk."

"Maybe a little."

"Where's Lexi?"

"Fucking Tom." Sure, she'd made sure he was with Chris first, but she should know he was a master at ditching Chris by now.

"Where's everyone else?"

"Inside."

"The townhouse? And you're outside? Go inside, Jen." Justin's voice was soft and tired. Jen was as close to a pet name as he got.

"So you can fuck your girlfriend?"

"No. Jensen, she's not here. But you know they're going to be pissed off you called me. They're going to look for you."

"No one's looking." Chris was probably inside getting laid. If he wanted Jensen to not call Justin, he should try harder to invite gay people to his parties.

"I'm sure they will be soon."

"What're you doing?" He hated asking to come over. If he could get some kind of an invite, that was better.

"Nothing."

"Jacqui's not coming over?" It was better to ask in advance. That way, if Justin turned him down, he'd know why.

"She's out of town."

"And you're doing nothing?" Justin could throw him a fucking bone.

"Jensen, I know what you want, but I also know Lexi will kill me and Chris will throw a fit when he finds out."

"I don't care. Do you want me to come over?"

"Shit. Of course I do. But you're drunk."

"I'll call a cab." Jensen sighed and hung up before Justin could change his mind.

"Call a cab to go where?" Steve's voice came from behind him. Shit.

"Just going home."

"And you called your bed to let it know you'd be there soon?"

"Fuck you." He was caught. They both knew he was caught.

"Let me drive you home." Steve looked him over, and that look of pity was the last thing he wanted.

"Okay."

"Are you saying that because you're going to call a cab as soon as I leave you there?" When Jensen didn't answer, Steve sighed. "If I take you to my place, are you going to sneak out as soon as I fall asleep?"

Jensen shrugged. At least Steve wouldn't tell on him to Chris and Lexi. Steve wasn't like that, and he could outlast Steve even when he'd been drinking.

"I'll drive you if you promise to call me in the morning or take a cab home so he doesn't know where you live."

Jensen nodded and let Steve help him up off the grass.

"For the record, I hate this. If I didn't think you'd just do it as soon as no one was looking, I'd call Chris right now and let him tie you down."

~*~

Jensen didn't really remember falling asleep in Justin's bed. He meant to call a cab as soon as Justin passed out, but he must have fallen asleep first. That didn't happen often. He blamed the tequila. He tried to slip out before Justin woke, but Justin's hand wrapped around his wrist as he sat up.

"Hey." Justin's voice was soft, and he turned back without thinking.

"Hey."

"I can drive you home."

"No. I'll call a cab."

"Is that the deal you made with Steve?"

"Justin."

"Because he thinks I'll stalk you if I know where you live."

"He knows I'm the one that called you last night." He knew it wasn't fair they always blamed this shit on Justin. Sure, it was Justin's fault in the beginning. But now?

"But I can't drive you home."

"He's not giving me shit about it. If he knows I let you take me home...." Steve would find out, and then he'd lose the only person who even tried to understand.

"He'll tell Chris and Lexi."

"Yeah."

"And you're not going to tell me where you live, are you?"

"It's better."

"For who?"

~*~

"You saw him, didn't you? Don't lie to me."

"Lexi."

"No. You promised me."

"It was just sex."

"It's never just sex with him! You think I don't fucking know that? You promised. We promised." She knew how to hit him where it hurt, but he deserved it. She'd kept her own promise to not go see him when he called even if Jensen knew she still talked to Justin. And he broke his every time. It wasn't fair, and it wasn't right, and he was the shittiest friend ever.

"I know. I'm sorry."

Lexi sighed and pulled him into her bed. "I'm not trying to make you feel bad, but you know this just makes it worse. Every time you sleep with him, it messes you up."

"I'm fine." He'd be fine, at least.

"You're not fine. You're all sad and mopey and shit. I can tell, and you're going to have to hide from Chris because he's going to know if he sees you."

"I just need sleep. I got up too early."

"So you could sneak out of Justin's apartment."

"Yeah."

"Babe, you have to stop doing this." Lexi sighed, curling up close to him, and he didn't bother to answer. It would be worse if he promised not to do it again.

~*~

"See this is not fair. There's not a world where this is fair." Amanda's voice woke him, but Jensen managed not to open his eyes. Maybe if she didn't know he was awake, he wouldn't have to face her.

"Weird. Usually, she just sleeps in his room." And Allie. This was why they usually slept in his room-to save him from moments like this.

"She sleeps in his room? In his bed? Often?"

"I've never asked where in his room she sleeps. I just know sometimes she sleeps in his room."

"Life is not fair. I'm going to stop telling Jared to forgive her." Shit. Amanda couldn't be serious. All Lexi wanted was for Jared to talk to her again.

"Because she sleeps in Jensen's bed? Because you know, if Jared forgives her, maybe he can talk her into telling you about it." Allie whispered, probably trying to not wake them up. Too late for that. At least Allie was on Lexi's side, even if he really didn't think there was anything to tell.

"Yeah, right. Jared's annoyed I hooked up with Chad. I'm going to have to bribe him with cookies to forgive me."

Jenny, you have to stop doing this. I know you love him, but it's going to make you crazy. I'm worried about you.

And I'm pissed off too because I KNOW you. You are stronger and better than this shit.

Next time, call me. I'll be your gay sponsor or whatever. You know we all love you.
