Day 1:

AJ Styles was normally the type of man to respect someone else's privacy; he would typically walk away if he heard an argument that didn't involve him, but this time it was the combination of Sabin's voice and the words he was saying that piqued AJ's curiosity. Slinging his bag over his shoulder, Styles rounded the hallway where he heard Sabin's voice and saw the man pacing angrily, holding a cell phone to his ear.

"Look, I'm telling you the engine just died on me and nobody knows what the hell is wrong. Yes, I checked the damn battery… no, no! I will not calm down until you just…" Chris sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Look, listen, all I need is another rental to do me until this one gets… oh you have got to be kidding me! No, no, forget it, just forget it!" Sabin snapped the phone shut and looked to be about two seconds away from slamming it against the wall.

AJ decided to make his presence known. He took a couple steps forward, "Hey, Chris, I couldn't help but overhear. I was just heading out myself. You need a lift anywhere?"

Chris blinked at him, then shook his head, pocketing the phone and picking up his bag. "Nah, no thanks man; after the week I've had, I'd probably make your car explode. It's only about twenty minutes. Thanks anyway."

"No problem," AJ replied. He watched Sabin go then went to pick up his own bag. As he was leaving, he found himself drawn into a conversation with Sonjay, one that lasted quite a bit longer than he'd expected. When he finally managed to extricate himself, AJ was surprised to see that the sky had shifted to a dark grey and rain was pounding the pavement so hard the drops were bouncing back.

Rolling his eyes, AJ took out his keys and hunched his shoulders. He took off into the parking lot at a run and even though he was only a few spaces from the door, he was completely drenched by the time he threw his bag in and shut the driver's side door behind him. AJ blinked the rain out of his eyes, shaking out his legs a little in the vain hope of drying his water logged jeans. "Man," he said to no one in particular, shaking his head. He turned the engine and started the heat, then pulled out of the parking lot.

After the first couple of blocks, he noticed that the rain was starting to ease up a bit, but there still weren't many pedestrians around. Even those with umbrellas were having a hard time, since they were being turned inside out by the whipping wind. As the light turned, AJ stopped and turned up the heat a little more, fidgeting as the damp denim started to itch a little. There was nothing worse than wet jeans.

Just as AJ lowered the settings on the wipers, he caught sight of a guy walking down the street, holding a heavy bag over his head in a futile attempt to keep dry. AJ winced when he recognized who it was. When the light turned green, he drove up to the man, pulling the car in park, lowered the window and called out to him. "Hey Sabin, you change your mind about that ride?"

Chris didn't answer, but opened the back door and chucked his bag in, then slid into the passenger side seat. His short hair clung to his forehead and he finally shook his head like a dog, sending droplets splattering through the car, but AJ was already wet, so he didn't mind. "Thanks," Chris said, trying to push his hair back and not really succeeding.

"No problem," AJ replied. "You staying in the hotel with everyone else?"

Sabin nodded and rested his head on the back of the seat. A comfortable silence fell between them and AJ flicked on the radio, stopping on a station that was unobtrusive, but pleasant. Once he pulled into the parking lot, he shut off the heat and found a decent spot.

Moving almost in unison, the two men stepped out of the car and grabbed their bags.

"Thanks again, man, I seriously owe you one." Chris said and he seemed to blush a bit at the embarrassing squelching noise his shoes were making on the concrete.

AJ smirked a little, trying to shake out his own shoes. "Hey, Chris, it's no problem. Try to avoid walking around in the rain, huh?"

Sabin sniffed, a little, sneezed once and nodded. "Gee, thanks for the advice. I'll by sure to keep that in mind. See you around." He said with a faint smile, turning and heading to the elevator and the last AJ saw of him was Chris shaking out his hair once again.

Smiling a little, AJ started to head towards the stairwell, since he was only on the second floor. As he stepped into a circle of light from an overhead bulb, he noticed the name on the tag. "Hey, Chris!" He called out, jogging towards the other man.

He caught up to Sabin just as the elevator doors open and snagged his hand, curling his fingers around Chris' to stop him, shivering a little as he realized just how thoroughly soaked they both were. He could even feel a little tremor in Sabin's fingers.

"What?"

AJ blinked when he realized he'd lost his train of thought. He held up the bag as if to offer a reason for being here. "We got switched," he said.

"Oh, thanks," Sabin said; he was staring down at their hands like he didn't understand. "Hell of a day."

"Yeah," AJ replied, letting go of Chris' hand so they could make the switch, "Yeah."
