Mark pulled Adam away from Scott, who was cowering behind Mark. Gripping Adam's arm tightly, Mark turned him around and stared at him. "What the hell was that all about?" Mark asked angrily. "He's supposed to be dead!" Adam shouted. "We killed him. Him and Glenn and Shane! It was his fault that I lost Matt!" Scott looked out from behind Mark. Seeing Adam's rage, he understood. Placing a hand on Mark's back, seeking some sort of comfort, Scott spoke. "You must mean Raven," Scott said.

Adam nodded. "Yeah, Raven," he said. "How did you come back to life? I know you were dead!" Scott stepped out from behind Mark and studied Adam before continuing. "Raven was my brother," Scott said as Mark dragged Adam from the room and down the hallway. Returning to the small cell that he had been in earlier, Mark opened the door and roughly shoved Adam inside. He turned to Scott and said, "I want you to stay here and keep an eye on him. He's gonna be a lot of trouble, I can tell." Scott nodded. Turning back to Adam, Mark said, "if I find one hair out of place on him, one single mark, I'll kill you with my bare hands. Understand, boy?"

Adam looked at the big man and nodded slowly. Mark reached for Scott, who silently embraced the big man. Mark kissed the top of Scott's braided head and left the room. Scott looked at the cot and motioned for Adam to lie down. Adam shook his head. "No, you take it," Adam said. "I wouldn't feel right." Scott sat down wordlessly, then indicated that Adam should join him. Reluctantly, Adam crossed the room and perched himself on one end.

"You said you had a brother?" Adam asked. "Yes, a twin. He and I were living with Glenn. Raven killed one of our mates, Billy Kidman. He blamed me. Since we were twins, they believed him. I was sent to be trained. Then, when I got back, he refused to let me come back home. That's how I met Mark. Been with him ever since." He looked at Adam. "What did he do to you?" Adam grimaced. Remembering the entire ordeal in slow motion.

"Glenn sent him to our home. He got real close to Jeff, one of my mates. We were out one night, feeding. Glenn and Shane were waiting. Glenn put a spell on Matt, my beloved. Glenn planned to kill him after having him turn Glenn into a half-breed. But, I read his plan, let my brothers know. Raven saw it and attacked Glenn. Only, Shane got in the way. Raven stabbed him. While that was happening, Glenn took Matt away to a warehouse, tied him down where the sun would reach him. He was going to take his blood as he died. We got there in time to save him. We tied Glenn to the table and left. Matt was very weak. We thought he would die. But, he didn't.

After that, I kept him in the house. I didn't want him hurt again. He talked me into letting him out of the house along with two of our other brothers. Evidently, he met another vampire and always thought about him. He shut me out. I got angry with him and attacked him. Jay interfered so I attacked him too. I almost killed both of them. That's when Brian broke down the door and took me away. Now, I'm here and Matt's the leader of the family." Adam didn't know why he told Scott all of that. He felt suddenly like he could trust him. Scott watched him as he told his story. "That's rough, man. But, Mark will be able to re-train you and you should be able to go back home." "I hope you are right. I love my family. I just want to protect them. Especially Matt. Coming so close to losing him, I didn't want to risk it again." Scott nodded. He stood when Mark entered. He bowed his head. "Time to leave now. Move." Mark grumbled. As they passed, he smiled at Scott. "Excellent work, my love. He told you the truth. Maybe now, we can save him."
