"I HATE YOU!!!" Jeff screamed, slamming the door in Adam's face. Jay winced as Jeff flopped on the bed. He reached over and rubbed his hand down Jeff's back. "Calm down, babe," Jay said. He leaned over to kiss Jeff but stopped when he saw the look of anger. "It's not fair," Jeff snarled as his fangs began emerging. "Why won't he let me go? I promised to be good!!" Jay sighed. "You know exactly why, Jeff," he said, rising from the bed and taking his coat from the closet. "You have to learn to control yourself. Like Addy says, one of these days, you're going to go too far."

Jeff turned and grabbed Jay's shoulder, spinning him around. "Whose side are you on, anyway?" Jeff asked. Jay rolled his eyes at Jeff. "This isn't about being on anyone's side," he said. "It's about survival, Jeff. And that's all I want, that's what we all want. What's the point of being immortal if you're going to get us all killed?" Jay heard Adam call from downstairs, letting him know they were ready to leave. He walked to Jeff and kissed his cheek. Jeff jerked away from him and stalked to the window. "Go," Jeff said. Jay sighed and looked at Jeff one last time before walking out the door.

Sean was pacing impatiently by the door. Shannon was standing next to Matt, his hands on Matt's shoulders. For once, Matt looked rather peaceful. Adam was leaning against the wall, waiting for Jay. "Everyone ready?" he asked when Jay reached the landing. Sean opened the door and stepped outside. He looked up at the brilliant night sky and breathed in deeply. Matt stood next to him, watching. "What's out there, Sean?" he asked. Sean closed his eyes, concentrating. Suddenly, a darkness fell over his face. Adam had stepped off the porch, and turned to look at his mates. Jay and Shannon walked out the door, stopping when they saw the scene before them. Something was up - they had seen that look on Sean's face before, and it was usually not good.

Matt stepped in front of Sean and placed his lips to Sean's forehead. Sean's eyes opened and he looked into Matt's eyes. Matt leaned his forehead against Sean's and whispered, "show me what you see." Sean nodded slightly, then closed his eyes again, keeping contact with Matt. Matt gasped when the visions appeared. Adam sensed something was wrong. He approached the pair and wrapped his arms around both of them. Matt reached down and grabbed Sean's arm, steadying himself. Both men's eyes flew open and they stepped back from each other.

Matt looked up at Jeff's window. He was worried about his brother now. "What was it?" Adam asked when Matt finally looked down. Sean looked over at Adam and said, "there's something out there - something far worse than we've ever encountered." Matt nodded in agreement. "We have to be careful," Matt said. "It wants to take over. It thinks it's more powerful than us." Adam embraced Matt, trying to comfort him. What he had seen had upset Matt terribly. When Adam pulled back, he noticed the red tears forming in Matt's eyes. His brow knitted together in concern. Matt looked up at him and said quietly, "it wants you, Adam. It wants to destroy you."

Jay gasped at Matt's revelation. Adam stood up straight and looked Matt in the eye and said, "then it will have one hell of a fight on its hands." He wiped away Matt's tears and kissed his love gently. "Now, don't you worry, love," Adam said, his fierce bravery meant to comfort Matt. "We've survived this long. Nothing will happen to us now. We're strong, separately and together." Everyone agreed with Adam. "We'll just be very careful. We should stick together tonight - no hunting alone." Jay spoke up. "What about Jeff?" he asked. Adam looked toward the window and saw the curtain fall back into place. "We'll have to find someone to bring back for him. Jay, can you handle that?" Jay nodded. "Let's get going then," Adam said, walking toward the road.

Matt stayed back a little from Adam, trying to shake the images from his head. Sean stopped and waited for Matt to catch up with him. When he did, Sean reached down and grabbed Matt's hand briefly. "We'll be okay," Sean said. Matt attempted a smile, but it looked more like a grimace. Shannon noticed the exchange and wanted to do something to make his friends feel better. He stopped and reached his hands out to his sides. Matt and Sean each took one of Shannon's hands and allowed him to wash away the gruesome images in their heads. They all made their way toward downtown, Adam in front, leading the pack on their hunt. No one noticed the dark figure watching them from a darkened doorway. After they had passed, he stepped from the doorway and headed the other direction. "Soon," the man whispered into the night. "Very soon."
