Sun tanned toes ticklin the sand
Cold drink chillin in my right hand
Watchin you sleep in the evening light
Restin up for a long, long night

Cause when the sun goes down, we'll be groovin
When the sun goes down, we'll be feelin alright
When the sun sinks down over the water
Everything gets hotter when the sun goes down

All day long just takin it easy
Layin in the hammock where it's nice and breezy
Sleepin off the night before
Cause when the sun goes down, we'll be back for more

When the sun goes down, we'll be groovin
When the sun goes down, we'll be feelin alright
When the sun sinks down over the water
Everything gets hotter when the sun goes down

This old guitar and my dark sunglasses
This sweet concoction is smooth as molasses
Nothing to do but breathe all day
Until the big moon rises and it's time to play

When the sun goes down, we'll be groovin
When the sun goes down, we'll be feelin alright
When the sun sinks down over the water
Everything gets hotter when the sun goes down

Kenny rolled over in the bed as he lay in that state somewhere between sleep and consciousness. His cheek went from the pillow to a soft chest and he smiled sighing happily as he felt warmth come over him. It was that warmth you got from knowing you had finally found something good after leaving the cold pain of a bad relationship. He'd lived too many years being the plaything for the class jock and the novelty for the head cheerleader. It seemed great for awhile, as it always did when the popular kids took in the poor geek until you realized that they only did it to have something to laugh about later.

They would take you in and give you that makeover so you didn't embarrass them. They'd whisper in your ear and make you think you belonged, but really it was all a lie. They no more wanted you around than they wanted a pimple on the night of an important date. Eventually it all ended the same. They got bored and you got your heart broke.

So there he had been heart broken and feeling like a fool when his saving grace came from the most unusual place. He'd only gone because he'd been told he had to… it would be career suicide to say no to such a big function. Still he'd wanted to. They would be there after all and he knew that it wasn't going to be pretty… for him at least. Of course he'd been right.

There he'd stood backstage listening to them laugh at him with their new play thing securely in place between them. Just as the tears were clogging his eyes and his throat had swollen shut from trying to keep from disgracing himself, his knight in shining armor came from an unexpected place. "You know you shouldn't let them get to you. It's a proven fact that jocks and cheerleaders aren't very intelligent," a voice said and looking up Kenny found himself looking into the eyes of Uncle Kracker. "That isn't very nice to say," Kenny defended automatically and Kracker smiled softly. "Maybe not and it isn't even the truth, but admit it… it made you feel better for a split second." Kenny giggled and nodded knowing it was the truth. "Alright so maybe it did, but… I don't know why I defend them."

Again Kracker smiled softly. "Habit. They are hard to break no matter what they are. And there'll always be a piece of you that thinks of yourself as theirs. The thing is a guy as pretty as you deserves a lot better than being pawned off as some brainless plaything for the 'popular couple'." Kenny cocked his head and looked at Kracker. "Does Kid treat you like that?" Kracker chuckled. "Bobby? Nah! I'm bigger than him. He knows I would kick his ass if he tried. Besides Bobby and I have never been… a couple. Long term fuck buddies… but never a couple. He likes boobs too much to commit to a man."

Kenny giggled again and Kracker smiled. "See that is much better." Kracker lifted a hand and wiped away a drying trail of tears off Kenny's face. "They don't deserve these." Kenny smiled shyly looking at Kracker. "Do you have a name… besides Kracker I mean." Kracker chuckled and nodded putting his arm around Kenny and shot a look at Tim satisfied seeing the smug looks had changed. "Most people call me Kracker, but the people I'm closest to call me Matt." Kenny nodded suddenly unsure of himself and wondering why the big arm felt so nice around his shoulders. He had forgotten about Tim and Faith as he contemplated this mysterious man with his arm around his shoulders as if he was protecting him from something. "So… Kracker it is then." He finally said wondering why the other man chuckled softly. "I think that Matt's gonna be ok." Kenny looked up wondering why his body was suddenly filled with that buzz of hope. "Why do you say that?" Kenny asked as Kracker ran a hand over his cheek again. "Because I'm hopin' that before the night is over we will be on much closer terms, baby."

Kenny's body shivered at the thought and he felt the arm around him tighten. "You cold baby?" He heard Matt ask sleepily and shaking his head Kenny blushed and lifted his head looking into Matt's eyes. "No, I was thinking of the night you saved me from the jock and the cheerleader." Matt chuckled and Kenny smiled as the sound seemed to fill him. "The smartest thing I've ever done." Kenny nodded and moved to straddle Matt's hips. Both were naked from their love making the night before and Kenny watched as Matt's eyes grew smoky with need. "And going back to your hotel with you was the smartest thing I ever did," Kenny replied finding the lube buried in the covers and covered his fingers.

"You know there was a time when I thought that I was the luckiest man in the world because Tim and Faith wanted me around," Kenny said softly as his fingers slipped inside so that he could stretch himself. Matt grabbed the lube from him coating his rapidly hardening cock as he watched Kenny's solemn face. "They were fools baby," Matt said softly, but Kenny shook his head. "No, they were themselves. I was the fool for believing their lies and their deceit, but the thing is I got smarter and now I have you. Now I'm happy and I'm loved." Kenny closed his eyes as he took out his fingers and let himself slide over Matt. "I'm loved and they are still empty shells."

Matt chuckled softly then moaned feeling Kenny gliding over him. "I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you." Over and over and over and over he repeated it softly first then gradually louder until he was screaming it. His hands clenched in Kenny's hips and his own thrusted up in time with Kenny's strokes. Matt's neck was arched and Kenny's was limp letting his own head fall back. Neither could see the other, but then they didn't need to. They had watched each other in this moment a million times 'til it was burned into their brains so deep that it would never leave. Matt's hand wrapped around Kenny's cock stroking furiously until they both exploded Matt first and then Kenny leaving them breathless and staring into each other's eyes.

Again his mind wandered back to that night as Kenny remembered turning to look at Tim as Matt was leading him out with his arm still firmly around his shoulder. His eyes had been filled with anger, but there had been something else there. Kenny tried not to think about what it was, but he'd never had trouble with Tim after that. He'd wondered about it once out loud and interestingly enough it had been Bobby that had named the strange emotion. "Regret man. He knows that he lost a damn good thing to a man who wasn't gonna make the same mistake as he did. There is no chance of getting you back now. Kenny Chesney is officially off the market." Kenny wiped them off with the sheet then laid back down pulling the bedspread off the floor to cover them. Smiling he sighed happily knowing Bobby was right. When he'd left Tim and Faith he thought he wouldn't survive, but somehow life had been better after the jock and the cheerleader.
