He didn't know what to say.
Dumbly he sat staring at the man in foot of his bed knowing that he was expecting an answer to the question he'd left to hang in the air, but unsure of what to tell him. It had been a moment of stupidity. His hormones had been in overdrive and the sight of that lush and willing ass in front of him had been more than he was able to resist. Naked and freshly showered he'd been like some strange walking aphrodisiac. When smile had crossed his lips and the invitation to join him for the evening had come… the thought of turning it down had not even presented itself.
His mind raced searching for some plausible excuse even though his heart was screaming at him that there was none. He knew that he would never believe that he was not normally the kind of man to do suck a thing… even though it happened to be the truth. He didn't have a long list of men he'd been involved with to start with, but never before had he cheated or done anything that could be considered close to cheating, but this time… it had been an irresistible moment.
He could feel the man next to him stirring in his sleep. He envied him his blissful unawareness of the shit that he was going to wake up to and then he wondered if he'd even care. Truth be told he didn't really know him all that well although unconsciously he'd been watching him for some time now. Sure he knew who he was and had basic knowledge of the man, but they'd never traveled in the same circles and had very few friends in common. He had to admit though if only to himself that there was something about the man that made him quiver, which was some how strange considering that he was told enough to be… well not his father but… the man was certainly older than him… somewhere in the neighborhood of ten years. He'd never before chased after a man that much older than him, but with this man… he didn't even have to think twice about it. Unfortunately he should have thought twice about it considering that he was involved with someone… even if it was a new relationship. He was supposed to be the stand up guy. He was supposed to be the reliable one. He was supposed to be the buddy that everyone could trust.
And yet there he sat… naked as a… well Jaybird looking into the angry blue eyes of the man he…
Frowning he tilted his head to one side and for the first time since they'd gotten together wondered just how he did feel about his lover. He didn't love him. Hell now that he thought about it he didn't even like him some days. So if he didn't love him and didn't even like him then what the hell was he doing with him? He knew that everyone said that they were the perfect couple. Both of them were beautiful, funny, and talented with bright futures in the company. The problem is one of them was much more immature than the other and that was something that was a big issue with him. If he wanted immatureness he'd still be with Adam.
Then there was the issue of loyalty.
Shit, his lover had more cock stuck into his ass than a whore in a whorehouse. He'd always been on the conservative side where his bed partners were concerned. He wasn't interested in being with someone that half the locker room had been with and the other half would be with. Sure it may look bad at the moment, after all he was the one cheating, but he was well aware of his partner's wandering eye and knew before long he'd have moved onto something new. So… again he wondered what the point was.
"Jaybird what's goin on boy?" He heard the man beside him ask. The sleep more present than gone was thickening his already heavy drawl and a hand touched his back in comfort. Jay shivered as that voice flooded his veins like jolts of electricity. He felt Mark sit up and place a kiss on his cheek before he turned his attention to the man at the foot of the bed. There was no banging of his chest like he was some conquering warrior. There wasn't any rubbing the situation in the other man's face. Just a calmness that came with age and wisdom and it was something that Jay found very attractive and comforting. He thought about the words Mark had whispered the night before… words that he had written off as sex talk, but now wondered …
He knew in that moment that if he gave this a chance that this could become something really good. Maybe he had stumbled into forever when all he had been expecting was a booty call. Shaking his head Jay looked at Randy and said, "Nothin' Mark."
"I was just talkin' to Randy about movin' on."
Jay could see the battle inside Randy's head as he struggled to believe that HE the great Randall Keith Orton who could get anyone he wanted, who controlled every situation he was in, who was always the dumper and not the dumpee had just been given his walking papers.
"This is ona them moments boy," Jay heard Mark drawl and saw Randy frown and lift his chin.
"You can cause a scene right now. You can pull a Hardy and tell everyone I stole your man even though we both know you've already picked your next man. You can make things difficult and act like the child you are.
"Or you can be a man. You can chalk this up to a nice ride while it lasted, but accept the fact that the feelings I have for Jaybird are something you just ain't interested in right now and be happy that the boy found someone who's willin' to offer him forever and hope someday when you're ready Paul gets his head outta his ass and offers it to you.
"Now what's it gonna be?"
Randy swallowed hard and nodded after a long pause then turned to leave. At the door he paused to see Jay in Mark's arms smiling shyly up into the face of a man who obviously loved him a great deal.
As he walked out he couldn't help but be jealous and wondered what he'd missed in Jay hoping that someday when he was ready someone would love him that much.
The End
