Adam sat at his table alone watching Jay across the room with his new friends. Once upon a time they would have been cracking on those guys and now Jay practically was one of them. Hell whom was he kidding? Jay WAS one of them and deserved to be.

Jay had gone through hell thanks in large part to his "best friend" Adam Copeland. Adam had let the bright lights of what he THOUGHT was his big break blind him to reality. Reality was wrestling is a fickle business. Reality was that he had reached a point in his career where it was hard to tell WHO his REAL friends were. Reality was fans, co-workers, management… everyone wanted SOMETHING from him. Reality was that at the end of the day when he closed his eyes and went to sleep there was only ONE person that he'd been able to count on.

The problem was he'd let Kurt Angle convince him that HE had been that man when the fact is that it really had been Jay… only Adam forgot. Adam forgot all the times and all the memories and all the times he'd NEEDED Jay and his friend had been there without hesitation. Adam forgot Jay.

Looking down at the table top he tried to pretend that he couldn't FEEL the pain in his heart. He tried to pretend that his eyes weren't tearing up. He tried to pretend that his hands weren't getting shaky. He tried to forget Jay…

But he couldn't.

It was true that Jay had been immature. It was true that Jay had schemed and cheated and fucked up time and time again… on camera. The thing was that Adam had let Kurt convince him that Jay was a fuck up off camera too and that hadn't been the case.

Adam could see that now. It was as if he could close his eyes and see what everyone else had seen. Jay being Jay and Adam stabbing him through the heart.

Unable to take it anymore Adam threw some bills on the table hoping it covered his bill and left the bar not able to watch his old friend's happiness any longer.

The next night after a long grueling match against Chris Jericho, who was Kurt's current lover, Adam made his way through the curtain to see Kurt standing there waiting… most likely for Chris.

"Well, well, well if it isn't the wanna be," Kurt snickered and Lance who was standing next to him giggled.

"Bug off Kurt," Adam said trying to move past, but his way was blocked. He was already exhausted from the stiff match he'd been in and didn't really have the strength to fuck with Kurt.

"What's wrong Baby?" Kurt asked snickering again. "What's your hurry? I was thinking I would make you my bitch for the night for old time's sake. You remember those right? That's where I lied my ass of telling you that you were gonna be HUGE someday and you were dumb enough to believe me."

Adam's eyes drifted shut as his head dropped. He'd seen the group of men coming up behind Kurt and just knew he wasn't gonna make it back to the locker room in one piece. But the words that he heard shocked him.

"You never were very bright chumpstain," Jay sneered. "But the fact that you think the Edgeman isn't gonna be bigger than some Olympic Jackass like you could EVER be is laughable!"

Kurt's head swiveled around shocked and Adam's head snapped up as his eyes flew open. He must have finally lost his mind. Surely he hadn't heard what he thought he had.

HBK looked at Adam seeing the evident shock and exhaustion on the man's face and took pity on him. "Let the man through Kurtsy before I unleash The Game on your puckered ass."

Unsure what was going on Kurt stepped back and seeing his opportunity for escape Adam eased through the small crowd. Jay watched his old friend walk off and couldn't have stopped the longing in his heart even if he'd wanted to. "Go after him," a deep voice rumbled into Jay's ear and looking up he saw the understanding in Kevin's hazel eyes.

"Thank you Big Man," Jay said and hurried after his friend not having to look to know Paul was right behind him. Running down the hallways Jay found Adam's locker room but unfortunately didn't find his friend. After a 15 minute frantic search by him and Paul they finally found a locker room far away from everyone else. Pushing the door open Jay could hear the sound of the water running in the shower trying but not succeeding in covering up the sound of Adam's sobs.

Easing in the room Jay hurried into the shower mindless of this fully dressed state and saw his best friend in the world huddled in a ball on the shower floor sobbing as if his world was gone. He could admit it now. Adam is, was, and always would be his best friend. There was no way he could just stand there and watch his pain.

Adam on the other hand had no idea he was no longer alone. Seeing Jay with his friends surrounding him like a pack of guard dogs when he was so alone had been his final straw. His entire life was a joke and he had no one to blame but himself. But as the pair of arms seeming so damn familiar eased around his shoulders Adam looked up and just knew that he'd finally lost his mind.

There was Jay soaking wet with those big puppy dog eyes of his and with that expression on his face that he'd always known meant everything would be ok. "Jay Jay," he sobbed as he fell against his friend. "Please gimmie another chance. I'll do anything. I know it was my fault. I know you have new friends, but please... I need you back. I need my best friend. I need my brother. I need you!"

Quietly Jay rocked his friend back and forth making soft mothering noises letting Adam's grief work it's way out. "Jay Jay please. I know we can never be together again. I know we'll never be what we were. I know we'll never be lovers again, but I can't make it without you anymore. God baby please just give me something anything just God…"

Choked with emotion Jay couldn't answer and helplessly looked up at his lover knowing in his heart what he needed, but not sure how to say it. Paul though knew exactly want was going through his love's heart. He knew because every time that he looked at Michael Shawn Hickenbottom he felt it. If it wasn't for Jay he and HBK would probably still be fighting too, but it had been Jay that made them see that they needed each other.

It was true that they were both in committed relationships with other people, but they still had and always would have each other's love. "Do you really want it Adam?" The Game growled. "Do you really want Jay back in your arms, in your life, in your bed? Do you want him back so damn bad that you'd do anything at all to get him back?"

Adam's head snapped up and with eyes blazing with hatred he glared at Paul and snarled, "YES!"

"Yes Goddamn you YES!"

"Then share," Paul said softly and Adam's face fell into a mask of confusion.

Jay on the other hand looked up at his lover with eyes full of radiant love. When Adam didn't speak he looked down at his childhood friend and spoke gently. "I can't give them up Ammy. I can't be yours part of the time and there's part of the time. It would tear me apart. If you want me… if you love me as much as you say… then join us. Love with us. Be a part of us."

"I don't understand," Adam stammered. "What do you mean? Join who? Be a part of what? What am I loving?"

From his position at the shower door Kevin firmly said, "Join the Kliq."

Next to him HBK said, "Be a part of the Kliq."

And looking down at Adam's eyes Jay whispered, "Love the Kliq."

"Love Kevy and HBK. Love X-Pac and PJ. Love Scotty. Love Paul. Love me. Love the Kliq."

Adam didn't know what to say. Looking up from Jay's sweet familiar smile he saw the understanding in Paul's eyes. He saw the grin on Shawn's face and the lust on X-Pac's. He saw Kevin's raised eyebrow in challenge and moving his eyes once more sent them home to see the love in his little Jaybird's eyes.

"Come on Edge," Jay said grinning as he slipped into Christian's familiar valley boy speech. "Let's show these old men what bad to the bone REALLY means! Let's make the Kliq into an International Incident that will just totally rock the entire foundation of all those stuffy blowheads that said we'd never make it! Let's make the Kliq TOTALLY REAK OF AWESOMNESS!"

"Did he just call us OLD?" Shawn asked trying to act outraged, but laughing too much.

"I think he did," Kevin said in mock astonishment.

"I'm gonna kick your ass punk!" X-Pac play growled.

"HEY!" Adam snapped and the room fell into silence hearing the anger in the Canadian's voice. 'Watch how you speak to my best friend Suckasaurous!"

Jay grinned as the others playfully growled although there wasn't any truth behind it. It was quite apparent that Adam Copeland had finally learned the Kliq's Lesson on Love.

The End!
