Chapter Seventeen
Angel put her bag over her shoulder and slammed her trunk shut so she could get into the building. She was picking up Scotty that evening after the show and was anxious to get the day over with. Turning she ran smack into a hard body and bounced backwards. She would have fallen if it weren't for the arms wrapped around her body. Looking up she opened her mouth to apologize, but paused when she realized the identity of the man holding her. "You should be more careful. You could get hurt." The man offered quietly.
Angel nodded trying to keep her body from shaking as she saw the look in his eyes. "What are you doing here?" she asked wishing her voice hadn't quivered. "You were supposed to come to me," the man said ignoring her question. Angel opened her mouth to scream, but found a cloth placed over her face. The man easily kept his hold on her as she fought him until finally her body went limp. Lifting her into his arms the man carried her towards his car. "You were supposed to come to me," he repeated. "You were supposed to love me."
An hour later Sean stomped into the general locker room, looking around he scowled and turned to leave when he was stopped by Mark Jindrak. "What are you lookin' for man?" Sean turned back around scowling still as he looked at Jin. "I'm lookin for Angel. I saw her damn car in the parking lit, but I can't find her. It's as if the daft woman has dropped off of the face of the earth." As the words left his mouth a strange feeling came over him. As he stared at Jin, who was getting off the bench and rushing to his side, Shannon came in with a worried look on his face carrying Angel's computer bag and a rag.
Soon Sean's phone began to ring and the bottom dropped out of his stomach as he recognized the number on his caller ID as Mike. In one of those rare moments that he was known to have from time to time he knew what had happened and in that moment became more scared than he had in a long time. Answering the call before it could go to voicemail Sean lifted the phone to his ear and asked "Mike where did he take her? Where did Kevin take Angelface?"
Later that evening Angel opened her eyes slowly and frowned as she tried to push through the fog in her head to figure out where she was. The last thing that she remembered was being shocked when she'd looked up and saw Kevin standing there. Then she slowly began to remember the look in his eyes and the blow he'd delivered to her head when she'd woken up in the car. She'd always known that he had some mental problems. When they had been traveling together she had been in charge of his medication. She'd never imagined he would go this far over the edge thought and figured that he must have been off his meds for quite some time.
Looking around she groaned at the sharp pain turning her head brought as her eyes moved over the various items in the room she was in. Slowly recognition came and she realized that she was in the spare bedroom of the beach house that Kevin used to share with Scott when the two had still been together. Somewhere in the back of her mind an alarm was going off, but before she could latch onto it, she heard the door open and saw Kevin coming in dragging a limp Mike Sanders by the arm. Studying Kevin she couldn't help but flinch at the madness that she read in his eyes. When Mike was thrown across her body she noticed that his hands had been bound together with the cord from something.
Taking a quick glance at him it appeared as if he'd been beaten several times and her heart went out to the man she hadn't talked to in years but knew he was a good friend of Sean's. "How could you do this to us?" Quickly Angel's eyes moved back to Kevin's face, but didn't know how to respond to the odd question. "How could you destroy our love so easily? I thought you understood what we had. I thought our love had been reborn. I can't believe that I thought you changed Cleopatra."
Angel felt a cold chill move over her body as she realized how extensive his madness had become. Kevin had always had a strange fascination with Marcus Antony swearing that his murder of Cleopatra had been her fault not his. Now it seemed that Kevin's reality had blurred to the extent where he believed that he was some reincarnation of Marcus and that she was the reincarnation of Cleopatra. "I can not believe that I thought you were pure and innocent this time! I thought you had learned your lesson the first time, but apparently you are still a cheating traitorous whore. You've left me no choice my love. You are going to have to suffer the punishment again and I can only hope the next life time will bring about true purity and innocence." Angel trembled as she finally saw the knife in his hands and feverously wished for Sean and her Scotty to come up with some miracle.
