I was lost, then I found you
Never thought it would be this way
I showed you my heart, left it unguarded
Like a thief in the night you stole it away

Now you're gone, the pain goes on and on
I still hear you whispering to me through the shadows of the night

Chorus:
Love lies, you're just a victim of the headlines
You're running on into a cold night
You're just a number of the love lies

All alone you call it survival
He lost at love to a stranger's lines
Walking the streets, searching with vengeance
For a face that he dreams of night after night

Time goes on, all signs of life stolen, simple dreams were all broken
Best of times become desperation but how many tears must you cry to survive

Chorus

They met late one night in the city
Both men knew only one would stay
Scratched a picture of a heart on a bullet
And took his life away

Chorus

It was cold and rainy just like it should be that day. Funerals always were terrible, but for a legend and a big screen superstar all in one person… for a man who one day had it all and the next… the next he had nothing. There was a time when the grave site would have been surrounded by friends, family, and co-workers, but now all that showed up were a few family members and his husband. There weren't any friends left. Long after the family had left and the casket had been lowered to be covered in dirt a lone figure knelt on the ground. His slim body was shaking with grief.

"I loved you," he sobbed putting his hands next to the open hole. "I loved you. Why couldn't that have been enough for you? Why couldn't you see I loved you more than he ever would? We could have been happy. We could have had forever." Away from the grave under a tree stood a couple… a smaller blonde was cuddled in the arms of a bigger dark haired man. They watched sadly as the man at the grave grieved. "He really did love him didn't he?" The smaller man asked regretfully. "I was so wrong. I thought he was using him… trying to get back his spotlight using Dwayne's."

The bigger man sighed and kissed his lover's temple. "You couldn't have known…" His lover cut him off though before he could continue. "I didn't even try! I just assumed…." Dave sighed shaking his head. "Chris stop. Even if you had known.. what would have been the difference?" Chris pulled away angrily and turned to glare at his lover. "The fucking difference would have been that JEFF HARDY wouldn't be kneeling alone in the dirt next to his husband's grave. The difference is he could have had someone there with him. The difference is a lot DAVE." Chris stomped off towards Jeff and Dave sighed running a hand through his hair as he carefully followed Chris to Jeff.

Reaching Jeff, Chris knelt down next to him. "Jeff…" He started, but the younger man looked up at him angrily. "YOU!" Jeff shouted. "What right do you have to be here? Haven't you taken enough from me? 'Til the DAY HE DIED he loved you more than me! What is so wrong with me that he couldn't love me just a little?"

Chris opened and closed his mouth, but it was Dave who responded. "Kiddo it wasn't Chris' fault that Dwayne didn't love you. Dwayne didn't even love himself and he was a fool if he couldn't see what a good thing he had in front of him." Jeff turned his swollen hazel eyes on Dave and his lip trembled again watching the big man as Chris spoke quietly. "I think you're wrong about Dwayne, Jeff. He would have never married you if he didn't love you. I don't care how messed up he was. His head may have thought that he still loved you, but what his heart knew was another matter. He was telling love lies to himself."

Jeff fell back to sit on his ass and rocked back and forth with his arms wrapped around his legs. And Chris looked around frowning. "Where is your brother? Where are your friends?" Jeff snorted wiping off his face. "I am an embarrassment to them. They won't believe I've changed. They say that if Rock OD'd then I am only days behind. They say that they have wiped their hands of me." Chris looked up at Dave who nodded then back to Jeff. "Then THEY are fools as well and you can stay with us. You shouldn't be alone. That is… if you can forgive me."

Jeff sniffled and looked at Chris suddenly feeling tired and empty. "I'm tired of thinking. I jus' wanna sleep 'til it's all gone away." Chris stood and held out his hand for Jeff who eventually took it letting himself be pulled to his feet. Together the men left - Chris with his arm around Jeff's shoulders and Dave following behind as if guarding them. He wasn't sure what the days and months to follow would bring, but hoped for peace.

The End!
