Tyson sat in the dressing room staring at the ceiling as the others scurried around getting ready for the night's show. He didn't take long to get ready and he didn't speak on camera yet so he didn't have any lines to learn. This left him with plenty of time to sit and think. Sometimes thinking was not a good thing as people had a habit of getting seriously hurt after one of his thinking sessions. "You find something interesting on the ceiling, Boy?" He heard a smart mouth ask and slowly Tyson lowered his eyes to let them come to rest on Randy Orton's punk face. Warning bells went off in Tyson's head reminding him that Randy was just a kid and therefore prone to moments of foolishness. Unfortunately for Randy, Tyson wasn't in the mood to care what the warnings were saying. The Problem Solver had a problem and that was never a good thing for anyone.
With lightening fast reflexes Tyson came off of the bench wrapping his hand around Randy's throat and squeezing. The locker room stilled as the boys watched Triple H's little protégé getting the life choked out of him. Normally no one dared to touch The Game's precious baby. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill your punk ass." Frantically Randy clutched at Tyson's arm and a hand hesitantly appeared on Tyson's tattooed arm. "Umm, Tyson, if you don't let go of his neck then he can't answer you very well." Tyson turned his head to look at an extremely nervous Matt Hardy. "Plus they'll put you in jail so when Christian gets back he won't have a Problem Solver no more. Instead he'll have a whole heap load of problems starting with CJ who'll kick his ass and we'll be stuck with CJ's inflated ego forever. So then we'll all have a problem and no Problem Solver to umm solve it. So could you please not kill Randy?"
Tyson's lips twitched wondering how Matt found the balls to come up to him when it was obvious no one else in the locker room did and Matt appeared to be more scared than any of the rest of 'em. Turning his eyes back to Randy, Tyson growled and released his grip on the young man's throat letting him fall to the floor. "Talk… fast," Tyson growled softly. Randy sat on the floor gasping for breath holding his neck and eyeing Tyson angrily. "I know what happened to Christian." Tyson's eyes narrowed and reaching down he lifted Randy up off the floor growling again only louder this time. "Christian got hurt in the cage match with Jericho." Randy though just shook his head no causing Tyson to drag him out of the locker room. Matt squealed anxiously wondering if he should follow or not.
"Tyson's gonna kill someone when he finds out what Adam did." Shane Helms pointed out coming up to his friend. "Then Hunter's gonna kill your boyfriend there." Matt turned his head to scowl at Shane before realizing that he was right and rushed out. Entering the hall he saw Tyson with his hand around Randy's neck again. Randy's face was turning an alarming shade of blue and Matt figured that wasn't a good sign. Matt saw the trainers and agents trying to pull Tyson's hand loose, but weren't accomplishing much. Looking down the hall he spotted Hunter running towards them with Ric close on his heels.
Realizing that Tyson was soon going to be in a dangerous spot, Matt rushed forward managing to shove his way through the crowd and insert his body between Tyson's and Randy's with his head between Tyson's arms. Putting his hands on the big arms of Tyson once again Matt looked at the bigger man until the dangerously angry eyes turned to him. "Killing Randy won't do nothin' to Adam and he's the problem here not Randy. All you're doin' is creatin' more problems for yourself than Christian needs. Let Randy go before you kill him an' I'll tell you what happened. Jus'… don't kill me."
Reluctantly Tyson let go of Randy who once more fell to the ground gasping for air. Just at that moment Hunter managed to push his way through the crowd and swinging a big fist at Tyson's face only to be stopped by Dave who just arrived on the scene. Hunter growled trying to get to Tyson, screaming at Dave to let him go. For his part, Tyson had put on a calm exterior that Matt had a feeling was very deceiving. When the deep rumbly voice came from Tyson, the hair stood up on the back of Matt's arms as his senses told him there was a potentially deadly situation developing. "If you think that you're man enough to take me down then bring it on Game. But I would suggest that you make sure that your will is in order first 'cause you are fixin' to fuck with somethin' that you not only can't kill, but can't even fathom. Unlike you I don't just play a monster on TV I am a monster and also unlike you I ain't afraid to take on people my own size or bigger." The hallway dropped into silence as the crowd waited to see what Hunter would do. They all knew that if Hunter decided to go there was nothing that they could do to stop it.
Fortunately true to form Hunter wasn't willing to take on someone his own size knowing that Dave would not back him up thus making the odds even. "You better have eyes in the back of your head, bitch." Hunter growled menacingly. Tyson threw his head back and laughed, but the sound that came out of his mouth was not filled with humor, but was reminiscent of things that go bump in the night. This time Matt crossed himself and thanked God that he was not on the receiving end of Tyson's anger. "Not only do I have eyes in the back of my head, Hunter, but I see in the dark as things from hell usually do. And when I'm done with you it will be you that is the bitch with things up your ass that you never even knew existed. Demons from hell should not be fucked with Hunter, and you already have fucked with one too many." Tyson looked at Hunter for several long moments before nodding at Dave then grabbing Matt's arm stomped off, dragging the smaller man behind him.
Tyson found an empty room and stomped inside putting Matt on a bench then paced like a caged animal in front of him not bothering to look up when he heard the door open. Dave slipped inside then leaned against the door insuring no one else would sneak in. "Talk Matthew," Tyson growled and Matt swallowed heavily before beginning his speech. "Swear you won't kill the messenger," Matt insisted not feeling much comfort in the other monster's presence. Tyson though just glared at the smaller man until Matt decided that it would be best for him if he just told Tyson what he wanted to know.
"Jay was in the showers where you'd put him after his match with Chris. Adam saw you take him in there then leave and knew that he probably wouldn't get another opportunity to get to him. He was pretty frustrated at how closely you stick to Jay." Matt looked up as Tyson growled and took a step back before continuing. "Adam likes to fuck with Jay's head. He's been doin' it so long that he knows all Jay's buttons and weak points. I don't know what they talked about cause my brother wouldn't tell me. All I know is that Adam wanted back in Jay's pants bad, but this time Jay wouldn't budge. He told Adam that he wasn't taking his shit anymore."
"Adam didn't take it to well though an' shoved Jay into the wall dazing him an' knocking him over. Then when he was down on the floor Adam kicked Jay a bunch of times with those boots he wears and stomped on his back. Adam don't have much for balls unless it's someone that's smaller or weaker than him then he's just savage. He'll beat on your where people can't see the bruises. Adam told Jay that if he opened his mouth to you then he'd start shit between you and Paul. So Jay don't wanna tell you 'cause you're the closest thing to protection that he's got."
Tyson studied Matt trying to calm his temper before he spoke. There was an idea running through his head and he didn't like it one bit. "Why would Jay tell Jeff?" Dave asked and Tyson could tell that he wasn't any happier by the growl in his tone. Matt bit his lip and shrugged before answering. "They're friends. He made Jeff swear he wouldn't tell me or anyone else on the roster." Dave lifted an eyebrow as the obvious question hung in the air. "So how did you find out?" Matt giggled suddenly as he blushed slightly. "Jeff told Shannon. He's on the other roster to he wasn't breaking his promise. An' since Shannon didn' promise nothin' he called me."
Tyson felt as calm as he was ever going to get and his questions wouldn't remain unasked any longer. "Why would he tell you Matt?" Why not call Dave? Unless that is he knew that you would believe him without question, which would indicate that you have first hand knowledge of this habit of Adam's. So, now the question Matthew is… How many times has Adam beaten you up because he didn't like an answer?"
Matt's face paled and his eyes got big as answers flew around his head. He opened his mouth intending to lie, but Tyson seemed to be much closer suddenly. Startled Matt tried to back up again only to find the back of his legs against a bench and sat down hard. Helpless he watched Tyson cross the short distance between them. Just when he was sure he was in for it he watched startled as Tyson knelt down putting himself at the disadvantage.
"I realize that I look big and bad and that I appear as if I would punch first and question later… but I'm not and I don't. I don't hurt people unless they deserve it. Now I may intimidate someone to get answers they don't wanna give up, but I am not Adam." Tyson stood slowly then carefully extended a hand brushing a lock of hair off Matt's face before stepping back. "You have no reason to fear me Matthew as long as you don't ever lie to me." Matt nodded placing his hand in Tyson's letting himself be pulled into a massive embrace. Closing his eyes he thought that he hadn't felt that safe in ages. "Adam used to beat on me when we was dating. Usually when he's tired of messing with Jay then he comes to me." Tyson growled softly looking at Dave over Matt's head. "That, Matthew, is going to change." Just then one of the agents poked his head in the door out of breath. "Tyson! You gotta match in about five minutes!"
Tyson let go of Matt and turning looked at Dave then to the agent. "My match isn't until the second hour." The agent shook his head. "Not anymore. You're wrestling Palumbo and A-Train in the opening segment." Dave growled, but Tyson shook his head. "It's ok man. Paul can have his little achievement and think that he's getting somewhere, but later he'll find out different." Dave nodded and sighed not liking the sudden change. "Alright, but I'm gonna go see what else he has under his sleeve." Dave took off with Tyson and Matt close behind him.
Fifteen minutes later Matt stood wincing as he looked at the monitor as A-Train and Palumbo beat the crap out of his new friend and protector. Feeling a hand on his shoulder he turned his head to see Amy had come up to stand and watch with him. "Man, things don't look good for your new friend. He really shouldn't have pissed off Paul." Matt sighed and nodded watching the Palumbo pin his friend finally to get the win and end the match. "Thank God it's over. You know Am I wouldn't rule out Tyson. You didn't see him earlier with Paul." Amy lifted an eyebrow and looked at the monitor to see Tyson still lying in the ring on his back. "I hope for your sake man you're right. I better go get ready for my match later." Amy slapped Matt's back then headed off towards the woman's locker room, while Matt decided that he better go check on his new friend.
Matt walked past a line of rooms on his way to the ring. Spotting Rob Conway standing outside one of the rooms leaning against a door with his arms crossed and a cocky grin on his face, Matt frowned wondering who was trapped inside the room, but decided he had stuck his neck out enough for one night and continued to the ring. Matt was almost to the curtain area when he saw a crowd gathering. Biting his lip as his stomach sank Matt took off towards the crowd. Not being able to get near enough to see what was going on Matt found Shane standing towards the back. "Man what's goin' on?" Shane turned his eyes to Matt and he knew what his friend was gonna say before the words came out of his mouth. "Paul's teachin' your friend a lesson." Matt bit his lip again looking around. "Where's Dave?" Matt asked and Shane shrugged. Turning his head again to respond Shane frowned seeing Matt running back down the hall.
Matt ran back to where Conway had been standing unhappy to see him still there only this time he could hear Batista pounding on the door and hollering. "Move outta the way Conway if you know what's good for you," Matt threatened, but Rob just laughed. "I ain't afraid of no pansy Hardy Boy. Why don't you run along and go fuck your brother or somethin'?" Matt gritted his teeth tired of being the butt of abuse for the night. "Conway, I am afraid you are about to suffer an unfortunate twist of fate." Conway laughed and opened his mouth to respond only to find Matt matt's fist connecting with his face. Matt grunted satisfied as Rob's skull bounced off the metal door and as the other man's eyes rolled into the back of his head the cocky man as he sank to the floor. "NEVER FUCK WITH A HARDY BOY BITCH!" Matt pulled the other man out of the way then pulled the door open to see a grinning Batista standing on the other side. "Remind me not to piss you off sunshine."
Matt grinned then remembering his protector was getting killed bit his lip. "Dave! You gotta save Tyson! They ambushed him when he was coming back from his match!" Dave growled angrily then shoved past him running to Tyson with Matt close behind. As the crowd spotted the big monster running towards them most of the observers remembered places that they had to be and took off. The ones remaining were smart enough not to get involved as first Flair and then Randy Orton were tossed out of the way leaving Paul and Batista growling at each other.
Matt watched worried as Shane came back to stand beside him with Rosey standing behind Shane. "You need to remember your place Dave," Paul growled and Dave shook his head snarling. "I know my place bitch. It's kicking your ass all over this fucking arena." Dave stepped over Tyson making Paul take a step back and Matt hurried forward to rescue his friend only to see Randy Orton getting the same thought. "Back off Hardy bitch! This is Evolution business and you don't wanna be on our bad side." Matt snarled balling up his fists. "Newsflash Randy! You ain't on TV and your muscle ain't backing you up! I ain't afraid to take you on!" Flair stepped forward shaking his head. "Maybe you should think about that twice!" Matt gritted his teeth nervous at the odds, but then found himself not so alone as Shane stepped up to stand next to him. "I don't see as there is anything to rethink. Matt knows I got his back." Paul snarled at Dave. "We ain't afraid of an even fight Batista. So bring it on."
"Who said it was an even fight unless you gotta really big mouse hidin' under your shirt," Rosey said stepping forward and Paul growled. "This ain't got nothing to do with you Rosey! Back off!" Rosey chuckled shaking his head. "You got rid of Jamal and now you're tryin' to can Rikishi and you think this ain't my fight? Bitch any fight that involves you is my fight." Paul swallowed suddenly nervous moving towards Ric and Randy. "Let 'em have their pussy. We'll get him later." Ric turned and backed down the hall a little ways before turning to run with Randy and Paul following.
While the others watched the group run Matt immediately knelt down to study his friend. "Tyson?" Tyson groaned and rolled over holding his ribs as he tried to sit up. Looking at Matt he grinned before wincing as it stretched his split lip. "Who's protectin' who again here Sunshine?" Matt blushed happily at the affectionate look he was getting from his new friend then helped him up and off to the trainer.
Later that night after the show Tyson and Dave sat in their hotel room with Matt cuddled up next to Tyson and Shane sitting on Batista's bed. Rosey had offered his help in the future if needed but begged off being involved in any plans and no one in the room blamed him. After all Paul had been right in saying that it really wasn't Rosey's fight. "So whadda we do?" Matt asked worried as he looked up to Tyson who grunted and looked at Dave. "First thing we need is more help. Palumbo and A-Train made it pretty clear in the ring they were happy to do Paul's bidding." Dave nodded not surprised. "From what Sean has told me about Palumbo that doesn't surprise me. He said that Chuck has always pretty much been a bottom feeder. They don't get along anymore. I'll call Sean and have him come join us. He has a couple… issues that he would like to work out with Paul, but other than that I don't know who else we can trust."
Shane and Matt looked at each other then the big men and back to each other. Shane shrugged before speaking. "He'd help if you asked him. He always says he'd have our backs on accounta Jeff." Matt nodded and bit his lip looking up to Tyson who was watching him with an arched eyebrow. Sitting up he pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and hit his speed dial. When the other end picked up he smiled shyly. "Hey yourself. Umm… I uhh I need some help. Well not jus me but me and some friends." Matt nodded listening to the man on the other end. "Dave and Tyson," Matt responded to a question then blushed bright red. "Knock it off already will ya! Paul and his butt buddies tried to put Tyson out tonight." Matt nodded some more then smiled big. "Thanks man! You's the best! Yeah I'll call Jeff. You know there ain't no way I could keep him outta this. Oooooooohh good idea Jeff's already there ain't he? COOL! Thanks! See you there!"
Matt smiled happily as Shane grinned. "He's helping us?" Matt nodded fast. "Of course! You know him! Lookin for fight… will travel." Matt and Shane giggled as Dave and Tyson growled softly not happy that they were being kept out of the loop. " WHO was that Sunshine?" Tyson asked and Matt blushed realizing that his new friends didn't know how he had called. "THAT was my brother Jeff's boyfriend. He's gonna help us. We're gonna meet him at his ranch on Wednesday, but we can go tomorrow. He jus can't meet us there 'til then." Dave arched an eyebrow waiting for the rest of the story. "Why pray tell can't he meet us 'til then?" Matt bounced excited. "Cause he's gotta work the show tomorrow." Tyson tried not to smile knowing his hopefully soon to be lover was enjoying the suspense and drama he was creating. "OK Sunshine, we give up. Who is your brother's boyfriend?" Matt bounced higher as he giggled more. "Mark Calloway!"
