"Hey Austin? Do you think it might be a bad idea to try this while Scott is visiting Kevin? I mean, we want to impress him here, not piss him off." Alex wined as they once again crept down the hallway, this time headed towards catering. They had heard that Kevin and Scott were heading in there to get a bite to eat after their promo, so they had a new plan.
This plan was even better than their earlier attempt at a prank. This time they were going to get other people in on it and they were gonna get him with a surprise party, supposedly for his and Scott's anniversary. It'd be the perfect rib, simply because they could probably get a lot of the guys to buy into it with the way Hall and Nash were always all over each other.
"Trust me, Alex, this is the perfect time for this one. I mean, Scott doesn't come with him all the time, so it would make sense that this is why he's with him today. We could probably get a lot of the guys to go with it, and he'll get a laugh out of it. It won't piss him off." Austin repeated once more, irritation finally beginning to creep into his voice at having been forced to repeat that same explanation many times already since they had come up with this plan.
The two men made their way into catering and went into their practiced speeches to anyone and everyone who would listen, telling them that they had overheard Kevin and Scott talking and it was their anniversary and since they hadn't known in advance, they wanted to do something nice for them. They wanted anyone who could possibly attend to come to catering after the meeting and before the tapings themselves for a surprise anniversary party for them. Alex was so convincing in his speal about how it would really show their support for homosexuality that he even managed to convince a few of the younger guys to help them decorate. Chase and Andy agreed to make a banner, complete with pink lettering because Alex convinced them that Scott would adore it, of course with his fashion sense, he actually might, but that was beside the point, because Kevin would find it atrocious. Sabin agreed to help them hang streamers that they had found in the supply room from the New Years tapings. Alex had the feeling that Jarrett knew it was a rib, but he agreed to let them hold it, even agreeing to keep Kevin back from the meeting for a few minutes so everyone could get in there and hide. Styles and Daniels, two who were always happy to promote acceptance of homosexuality, and Alex was convinced it was because they were together, agreed to blow up balloons and hang them with the streamers.
With all the help they got, it took no time at all to get the party set up. Austin and Alex were both feeling very proud of themselves for managing it, smirking at each other about the look of shock and amusement that was going to cross Kevin's face when he saw it. All through the meeting there were happy, anticipatory looks being passed around the entire locker room.
"Alright, Jeff, I'll talk to the lawyers about it. I'm sure we can manage something." Kevin muttered about 15 minutes after everyone else left the meeting. He and Scott planned to go get something to eat after taping promo's, but they had been caught by Petey Williams, who had kept them talking until time for the meeting. They were both hungry, but Scott had opted to wait until Kevin got done with this meeting so they could eat together. Then Jeff had wanted to keep them, wanted to talk about having Scotty as one of the judges for the PCS finals at the PPV. He didn't want to bring him back in full time, just use him for a single appearance, so he was a little shorter on patience than he usually was.
Jeff finally seemed to get the hint and agreed to have a meeting later with the lawyers present and released them. Things were quiet in the hallway on the way to catering. Too quiet, as there were usually a few of the guys hanging around talking about this and that, but today there was no one to be found with the exception of the occasional production staff checking on things and setting up as Scott and Kevin made their way to catering.
"Surprise!" Screeched the majority of the roster as Kevin opened the door to let Scotty walk in. The two men looked around in shock for a long moment before meeting one another's eyes and grinning.
"Oh, guys, you shouldn't have!" Scott breathed, seemingly in great pleasure.
"How did you guys know? I didn't think anyone knew the actual date? Did Sean call one of you guys?" Kevin asked, shaking his head and taking in the decorations, a grin on his face.
"But…" Austin started before stopping himself and shooting a glare at Alex.
"We…we heard you talking about it!" Alex stated, trying to cover. Hell, if it was true then he guessed that instead of a rib, they could at least get credit for doing something sweet for him. Damnit, this wasn't what they wanted, though. This was something a kid would do for their parents, and they were trying to prove themselves to Kevin. How the fuck were they supposed to know it was actually their anniversary? What? It was their…but he thought that line was a joke? Oh Hell, and Austin had been making cracks about his character coming off as some queer. Damn, Kevin was gonna take some serious offense to that. And even worse? They wouldn't even get full credit for this because everyone had helped. Damnit, this so wasn't fair. Back to the drawing board.
Kevin grinned and took Scotty by the hand and drew him further into the room, drawing him close and giving him a quick wink before kissing him quickly on the lips. "Thanks, guys, this is great."
End.
